Police tape off busy road after cyclist injured in hit-and-run crash (2025)

Officers closed off a busy junction near to Rochdale town centre after a cyclist was injured in a hit-and-crash.

Police were in attendance this morning (April 2) at the junction of Molesworth Street, John Street and Entwistle Road, near to the Aldi supermarket.

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service were understood to be in attendance.

An area was taped off by police and people were being advised to avoid the area.

GMP says it is searching for the driver involved in a collision with a cyclist, which took place at around 5am.

A force spokesperson said: "At around 5am today (Wednesday, April 2 2025) we responded to a road traffic collision involving a car that failed to stop and a cyclist on Molesworth Street, Rochdale.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver at the time and the cyclist is receiving treatment. The full extent of the injuries suffered are unknown."

The junction has since reopened.

Police hunting driver who hit cyclist

Officers are searching for a driver who failed to stop after hitting a cyclist.

A GMP spokesperson said:

"At around 5am today (Wednesday, April 2 2025) we responded to a road traffic collision involving a car that failed to stop and a cyclist on Molesworth Street, Rochdale.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver at the time and the cyclist is receiving treatment.

"The full extent of the injuries suffered are unknown.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 393 of April 2, 2025."

A cordon is in place at a busy Rochdale junction this morning with police in attendance.

Officers and paramedics have been seen at the junction of Molesworth Street and Entwistle Road this morning.

Police have taped off part of the road, with people advised to avoid the area.

The cordon is in place close to the Aldi supermarket, just outside Rochdale town centre.
